Backyard Improvements Easy Enough for the Weekend
Fall may be in full swing here in Texas, but the weather is still pretty perfect for long, lazy weekends spent with friends gathered around the fire pit. Now that the sun isn’t forcing us to all stay indoors and blast the AC, fall truly is the ideal time to tackle simple weekend warrior projects that can boost curb appeal and create the ideal atmosphere for s’mores and corn hole.
Build a Trellis
A stately backyard trellis is a great way to display climbing roses, lavender and an assortment of flowering vines. It can also create an intentional transition between a deck area and the remainder of the backyard space. The trick to building a great trellis is to use weather-resistant materials (treated wood or steel) and to cement the posts in the ground. This DIY project can be tackled in a weekend and drastically change the look of the backyard.
Resurface Your Patio
We’ve already discussed how concrete is one of the most durable materials you can choose for your patio. But no matter how durable, it does begin to crack, show its age and become discolored over time. Don’t worry! It’s not necessary to tear it out and completely replace. Instead, concrete resurfacer can be applied. Simply clean and prep the concrete first, then apply the blend of concrete, polymer and sand.
