Revamping the Front Porch for the Fall
Even though the fall hits Texas on a slight delay, we can still get into the spirit of revamping, decluttering and making seasonal improvements, increasing porch appeal and celebrating the new time of year. Although it’s hard to dream of sweaters, boots and pumpkin spice lattes when it’s still 90 degrees outside, embracing this time of year is really just another chance to make an aesthetically pleasing home improvement. Who else is ready to get started?
A Place to Chat
When the cool breezes finally start moving through College Station, the front porch is the first place you want to be when gathering with friends and family. To make your outdoor space more conducive for hanging with others, make sure there is a designated space for sipping drinks, snacking and great conversation. Have you been putting off installing a front porch swing? The addition of a porch swing can easily be tackled as a weekend warrior project (or in an afternoon if you know what you’re doing) and can set the stage for guests. Consider adding a coffee table and additional surrounding chairs, tying the look together with an outdoor rug. Bringing some of these small comforts out onto the porch will instantly put guests at ease. Accent the space with fall-themed pillows, plants and seasonal candles.
Put a Screen on It!
To continue enjoying your outdoor space as the seasons change, you may want to consider screening in your porch. Since a screened porch is also considered an extension of your indoor living space, it can add value to the home—not to mention provide the ideal year-round space for entertaining friends and family. This new porch addition can also be achieved over a weekend. So go ahead and admire those fall leaves while cozied up with a blanket in the comfort of a bug-free screened in space.
